What is the difference between the A1 and A3 certificates?

TF Assessor · July 07, 2026

Both have the same legal value. What changes is how they are stored and their validity period. The A1 is kept in a file, on the computer or in the cloud, and is usually valid for 1 year. The A3 is kept on a card or USB drive (token) and can be valid for 1 to 3 years. The A1 is practical for companies with an accountant. The A3 is good for those who want more physical control.
