Do I need to do any research before registering a trademark?

Yes, and it's very important. Before applying for registration, we do a search at the INPI (Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office). This search shows whether an identical or similar trademark already exists in your area. If one already exists, your application may be denied. Then you lose time and money. The search avoids this headache and shows whether the path is clear. It also helps adjust the name, if needed.
